|Late Friday night, the full Assembly may be voting on SB 52, the California DISCLOSE Act — the most powerful disclosure bill in the nation.
BECAUSE SB 52 IS SO POWERFUL, IT HAS POWERFUL OPPOSITION — that’s why we need you to call RIGHT NOW. There’s only one way we can win and stop ballot measure ads from deceiving voters about who pays for them — thousands of phone calls from people like you so your Assemblymember hears beyond a shadow of a doubt what their constituents want.
Please call your Assemblymember to tell them to vote Yes on SB 52 now! Our tool looks up who to call, and tells you what to say!
SB 52 will require ballot measure disclosures be clearly displayed on the bottom one-third of the TV screen for a full five seconds, so viewers can’t miss them. In fact, the funders must be displayed in a big contrasting font on a solid black background. No more misleading fine print.
Authored by Senators Mark Leno and Jerry Hill and sponsored by the California Money Campaign, SB 52 will apply to ads for and against ballot measures and apply to all forms of ads, including television, radio, print, mass mailers, and robocalls.
SB 52 will change the political game in the hundreds of millions spent on California ballot measure ads by stopping voters from being deceived about who is behind them.
It only takes a minute to call — and they’ll likely be in the office late each of the next couple of nights, so you can call at any time. Leave a message if nobody answers. Our calling tool makes it easy by looking up your Assemblymember’s phone number, and telling you what to say, depending on their record.
